This new case study from Historic Environment Scotland (HES) describes the experimental masonry repair and consolidation works to the historic piers at Cove Harbour on the Berwickshire coast. Ben Tindall initiated the works that were carried out with Roger Curtis from HES, Steve Wood from David Narro Associates, Douglas Johnston at Masons Mortar and Douglas Grant, contractor.
New door handles were commissioned from Jill Watson by Luke Hughes for these glass doors to a library which they have designed and made for the Keystone Academy in Bejing. Jill made these stunning jade coloured bronze handles; a Chinese Water Dragon with a conch shell and a Welsh Fire Dragon with Wings facing each other like dancing and representing ‘East meets West’.
It looked like a large dandelion seed floating through the air when the new balcony structure was craned over Bonnington House at Jupiter Artland. This design is another collaboration between our office and Alan Dawson and the balustrade will be fitted in situ. Watch this space for more.

After visiting us at Victoria Terrace, the highlight of their trip, some special Christmas visitors went on to enjoy(?) the musical accompaniments of the Royal Mile as well as the delights of the Castle.
Prof. Hugh Willison planted 17 saplings of Tilia to re-instated the original trees surrounding Glennan – lime saplings were cloned from the lone survivor of the Georgian landscape (left of the house & standing stone in the above photo). 10 years from leaf cutting to this point; a milestone is reached!
A site visit turned into a magical trip to Jupiter Artland on a crispy November’s day: greeted by sparkling gates, driving through Charles Jencks‘ Cells of Life frozen in time and continuing to Bonnington House. It all looked perfect, with the crispy frost set against a backdrop of Autumn colours.
Just before the darkest months of the year we got our new energy saving warm white LED ceiling washer lights fitted and it feels like perpetual daylight.
We like using webnet and have recently completed a private stair with a delicate balustrade. During a visit to Berlin, a colleague spotted this fantastic indoor 3D labyrinth whose owners seem to share our passion.
