DURISOL BIRD BOX OR HOME BUILDING SCOTLAND

At Edinkist, the wonderful new house being built at Loch Earn, rapid progress to the house has been outdone by birds who finished building their home in one of the Durisol blocks,  well ahead of our clients and without the benefit of building control or consent from the National Park.

SCOTLAND THE BEST 2016

The latest edition of Pete Irvine’s Scotland the Best guidebook is now out.  12 editions in 20 years is remarkable; full of wonderful quirks and excellent ideas, without any padding.  “Nobody tells it better… All that’s wonderful about Scotland is in the book“.  Perhaps it should not be surprising but it’s also full of places Benjamin Tindall Architects have had the privilege …

CONTINUOUS LEARNING

It was a great pleasure to go up to Inverasdale, Loch Ewe, Wester Ross, for a community consultation about the future of the Old School and Schoolhouse.   Organised with the Wester Loch Ewe Trust, we met with a very keen and engaged community and the setting was breathtaking.

BUILD BEAUTIFUL

For admiring looks, in India, ‘The Engineer’s Choice’ is Ultratech Cement, made by Birla, who produce 67.7 million tonnes a year is the thing.  It is also an indicator of India’s rapid growth, and the dominance of the concrete frame.  Note the excellent refreshment service bare-chested workers receive on site.  http://www.ultratechcement.com/services_engineers-and-architects

TONKA V. GEOMORPHOLOGY

January’s incredible rains washed out the main A93 Braemar to Aberdeen road opposite Abegeldie Castle next to Balmoral.  The River Dee created a new meander where the bank and its road was once straight.  Unfortunately the next and opposite bend washed away 10m of bank and a line of mature trees, reducing the castle’s foundation to a vertical bank of …
