An initial feasibility study considered various possible locations for providing a WC and agreed on an extension in the area of a redundant boiler house with an unsightly security fence around it.  The design was able to use previous openings, and daylight to a now internal window was retained by incorporating a roof light. Matching Binny stone was specially sourced as well as matching Agba timber for the woodwork.  The roof is made of terne steel to resist vandalism and avoid lead theft and the lovely leaded window was made by Emma Butler-Cole Aiken, re-using glass from an existing window which has become the internal door.

The Church was not connected to the public sewer and introducing this in the archaeologically sensitive area of the scheduled monument was a challenge and required negotiations with Historic Scotland and Building Control.  We overcame this by using a pumped system with small diameter pipes.

The work was completed within programme and budget at the beginning of January 2015.
