Church of St John the Evangelist – Edinburgh
The redecoration and lighting of St Johns has given a sense of joy to the grade A-listed church and become a model for sympathetic redecoration and lighting of churches throughout Britain.
The bold use of white on the interior stonework, including the tracery, has enhanced the natural lighting of the church, reduced glare and revealed the full colour of the stained glass windows. The delicate chandeliers, first designed by the Practice for The Hub, have a suitable ethereal quality as well as providing sophisticated control.
Our Practice has a long term relationship with St John, having carried out the last three Quinquennial Inspections. Other completed works include grant-aided repairs to roofs and stonework, contemporary signage, graveyard repair and routine maintenance.
