Bus Shelter
The Rothiemurchus Estate approached us to design a bus shelter for primarily staff use from the Coylumbridge Hilton Hotel across the road.
The design is simple and practical yet offers something a little out of the ordinary. BTA’s design developed following an understanding of the site, the Client’s requirements and a knowledge of Rothiemurchus, which signifies “the great plain of the fir” and is at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
The roof is a low pitch, of black corrugated aluzinc, to minimise its visual impact. Locally sawn logs were used as corner posts, following the 400 yard rule, whereby vernacular, ecological or sustainable building materials be sourced their materials from close by. The untreated local larch boarding will weather in time and help blend this shelter into the landscape. All the work was done by the Estate.
