WIDOWS & BAIRNS

The unveiling by descendants of the memorial to the 72 Widows and 182 Bairns left behind by Britain’s worst fishing disaster in 1881 on the Bantry in Eyemouth, Berwickshire, was a wonderful conclusion to two years work by Jill Watson with assistance from our Practice.  The occasion was blessed with the plying of the Good Hope and the Lifeboat in the rough seas of the background, choirs and perfect weather.  At 5m long and 2 tons of bronze in weight, all hand modelled, the work has been incredible.  Every single composition is heart rending; the whole is breath-taking.
