Pietrasanta, near Pisa and Lucca, has been Italy’s centre for carving and sculpture for a thousand years; it is also from where Jill Watson occasionally brings us their famous almond cakes.  After the closure of the oldest café in the town, whose trademark were these wonderful cakes, a new shop has recently opened up and are thankfully making their own delicious version.
