A VISIT FROM PROF. FIONA MCLACHLAN

Colour can be hard to discuss and many architects prefer to stick to white!  However, Prof. Fiona McLachlan at Edinburgh University has made the study of colour a speciality which she recently shared with us and some colleagues.  Her book ‘Architectural Colour in the Professional Palette‘ is wonderful and made us realise how complex colour is and what part different perceptions, social backgrounds, etc. can play in our understanding of it.

For our decoration scheme at St Peter’s Lutton Place we got the thumbs up, and the round table discussion contributed to Fiona’s understanding how copperas is mixed and applied and how different additives vary historically across Scotland.

We are looking forward to the publication of ‘Colour for Interior Design’ which she is currently writing with Lorraine Farelly.
