‘H’ IS FOR HAPPINESS
TRADITIONAL SKILLS OPEN WEEKEND AT THE ENGINE SHED
Earlier this month we attended the Traditional Skills Open weekend held by Historic Environment Scotland in Stirling. Indeed it became an office and family outing. We all (including partners and children, from toddler to teenager!), tried our hands at a range of skills, including stone carving, painting, slate cutting, blacksmithing and stained glass making and enjoyed engaging conversation with the many of the craftspeople present. It was very good to get some hands-on experience with some of the trades we so often use in our projects, improving our understanding of the materials and the crafts involved. This is key to providing the personal touch we bring to our work; the ‘art and craft of architecture’.
Perhaps inspiring a future blacksmith or two…
