Private House, Conservation and Extension – East Lothian
A derelict kitchen wing attached to the North Wing of this Grade A listed house was converted to form a two storey space with a living area connected by a timber & steel spiral staircase to a private library on the upper level.
New ridge rooflights create a well-lit yet intimate interior allowing the display of family paintings and historical artefacts. Original sash windows were re-glazed with slim double glazed units and a new doorway formed within a window opening gives access onto a stone balcony with steps to the garden.
A family kitchen was created within the North Wing and a new connecting doorway provides access to a new lead-clad and lead-roofed conservatory room created on an existing garden terrace. The North Wing roofs were repaired and existing services upgraded.
